Interview with Minister David Zimmer

(Toronto) Global Korean Post had an interview with David Zimmer, Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation in Ontario.
Minister Zimmer is well known to Korean community as the MPP for Willowdale.
Last December in 2016 he visited Korea with Kathleen Wynne, Ontario Premier.
During the visitation, he said that he visited the Blue House, Royal Palace, Andong Hahoe Folk Village and also tasted Korean food including Korean BBQ, rice cake and Soju.
Zimmer has been elected four times in the riding of Willowdale in Provincial election since 2003.
When he was elected for the first time in Willowdale, its population was 125,000, but now it reaches to 150,000 people as lots of condominium has been built to attract more people there.
Before entering into political world, he was in charge of a chair of the Toronto Community Housing Corporation and also he has practiced law for many years in Toronto and has served as a part-time Crown Attorney.
While he served as a president of Alzheimer Society of Canada, he realized many elderly people suffering from various forms of dementia.
In 1993, Zimmer was awarded a Commemorative Medal for the 125th Anniversary of Canadian Confederation for his contribution in promoting research and awareness of Alzheimer’s disease.
Zimmer says that 1.5 million Indigenous people are living across Canada and 3000 in Ontario. They are living in remote villages of Southern and Northern Ontario, where there is no road and train.
His future plan as Minister of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation in Ontario is to eliminate their disadvantage to make sure them to have the same education, healthcare, and business opportunities as other residents in Ontario.
