Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Kyung-wha on April 6 held talks with British Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs Dominic Rennie Raab on how to stem the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

Minister Kang first expressed sympathy over the U.K.’s spike in confirmed cases and lauded Queen Elizabeth II’s special message of encouragement on April 5 to the British people.

Secretary Raab said his government is pushing to increase its supply of COVID-19 test kits and asked for Korea’s cooperation in Britain’s purchase of Korean-made kits.

Minister Kang also pledged to ensure the prevention of COVID-19, stressing the need for maintaining direct flights between both countries and related cooperation so that essential human exchanges can proceed without a hitch.
