A travel program slated for two periods of 15 days each in June and November will feature tourism programs and benefits for visitors to Korea.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization on Jan. 20 said the first period of 2020 Travel Week is slated for May 30 to June 14 and the second for Oct. 31 to Nov. 15.
Debuting in 2014, the program was held in May and October to raise tourism demand in the country in spring and fall instead of just in summer. Under the new goal of boosting offseason travel in Korea, 2020 Travel Week this year will be conducted in June and November.
Transportation-related organizations including the Korea Railroad Corporation and the Express Bus Lines Association and car sharing will offer passes during both periods to reduce travel costs.
Provincial governments are also preparing tourism programs for travelers. The cities of Daegu, Incheon, Ulsan and Sejong, the provinces of Gyeonggi-do, Chungcheongnam-do, Jeollabuk-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do, and Jeju Island will prepare for the program’s first period and the second will be handled by the cities of Seoul, Busan, Gwangju and Daejeon and the provinces of Gangwon-do, Chungcheongbuk-do, Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do.
Each area will promote tours featuring the uniqueness of its region based on the type of tourists like young travelers or families.
More information on the program and benefits will be available a month before the program’s launch on the following website: https://travelweek.visitkorea.or.kr.
