Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, Justin Trudeau, met with mayors from the Greater Toronto Area about the need to end gun violence.
A round table discussion took place on Oct. 1st at Bayview Hill Community Centre and Pool in Richmond Hill.
Bill Blair MP and Mayors from Richmond Hill, Markham, Mississauga, Oakville, Whitby, Newmarket, and Aurora are attended at the meeting.
At the media press, Trudeau announced the stronger gun plan and the re-elected Liberal Government would ban military-style assault rifles and promised to provide municipalities with $250 million to help cities combat gun and gang crime.
“Gum crime is the challenge.”
“This is the strongest gun control measure in Canadian history.”
“Gun violence is going up, and too many families have been torn apart because of it. It’s time to take a stand and do more to make our communities safer. So we’re going to give municipalities the authority to ban or restrict handguns.” said Justin Trudeau, Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada.
