The business survey index (BSI) forecasting this month’s sales of export companies is the highest in three years and four months.
The Bank of Korea on Feb. 3 said the BSI of export companies compiled last month to project their sales this month was 100.
This was up 11 points from 89 in the previous month.
This is the first time that the BSI has hit 100 since reaching 102 in November 2017, and the biggest jump since the index in March 2015 saw a rise of 16 points from the previous month.
The BSI is an indicator of economic trends assessed by companies and ranges in value from 0-200. An index above 100 means that the number of companies positive over business conditions and outlook for the next month surpasses that of those negative. In other words, the number of export companies forecasting sales growth this month is the highest in over three years.
The survey was conducted from Jan. 12-19 with 2,797 domestic corporations (including 1,634 in manufacturing) responding.
