The government is speeding up the process of vaccinations against COVID-19.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety on Jan. 12 launched a support team for COVID-19 vaccinations that are slated to begin next month.
The 27-member team comprises three sections — controlling the overall situation, handling difficulties and suggestions on the spot, and providing information on vaccinations — and will operate until vaccinations end. The team will be headed by Vice Minister of the Interior and Safety for Disaster and Safety Management Kim Hee-Kyeum.

The team will work with the vaccination response team of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) in vaccine preparation and implementation with local autonomous bodies and swiftly respond to any difficulties on site. The team will also provide information to the public on the period, methods and reservations for vaccinations around the clock.

While visiting a COVID-19 test center and the police agency of Chungcheongbuk-do Province, Minister of the Interior and Safety Jeon Hae-cheol said, “We will work closely with related organizations like the KDCA and local governments to check all potential issues in advance that could cause problems in vaccinations.”

“We will do our best so that the public gets vaccinations quickly and without fear.”
